Munger Nature bags are made with an additive-treated polyethylene. The additive allows the transformation of the polyethylene into a biodegradable material which is easily assimilated into the biomass. The polyethylene which is basically hydrophobic thus becomes hydrophilic and will then incorporate hydrogen within its functional organic groups. In the first stage, the polyethylene’s abiotic process takes place and it results in a complete break-down of the polyethylene. The second stage is the bio-assimilation of the fragments by the microorganisms (germs and fungi) which feed on the fragments. The components resulting from the complete biodegradation process of Munger Nature bags are nothing more than water, carbon dioxide and biomass.  The time needed for the degradation lasts between twelve and fourteen months and there are no harmful effects on the environment (soil structure, vegetation, microorganisms).
